Why we’re gathering

A lot of what teachers learn from each other happens in passing: a conversation in the hallway, a quick “how did you do that?” after a meeting. There’s rarely time set aside for it, and almost none for the things we’re curious about outside of school. HRP Gatherings sets aside an hour to bring what matters to you, whether that’s a unit that finally worked or a book you can’t stop thinking about, and talk it through with people who care about the same things.

We picked this date, time, and format from your answers to our Gatherings survey. Thank you to everyone who filled it out.

How it works

• Short share-outs. Each one runs 10–15 minutes with time for discussion after. It’s more rapid-fire than a conference presentation.
• Share what you’re doing or what you’re learning. A current teaching and learning practice, or something interesting you’ve been reading or thinking about, teaching-related or not.
• Prepared or off the cuff. Either is welcome.

• Time to steer the gathering itself: when we meet next, how often, and what you’d want from it

A few ground rules

• No business or event pitches during share-outs. If there’s a cause you want people to know about, we’ll have 30-second announcements before the sessions start. You can claim one below.
• Keep students anonymous. Leave out names, photos, and details that could identify a student, and ask before sharing a colleague’s work.
• Keep to your time so everyone who signed up gets a turn.
• Assume good intent. Ask about someone’s practice before questioning it too harshly.
