Socrates, the ancient Greek philosopher, utilized a method of elenchus eventually given the name, “Socratic Method”. This elenchus is a method of logical refutation and is used to determine a person’s underlying beliefs. This unpacking of a deeper understanding forces one to examine her/his own beliefs and furthermore - validate them: give the beliefs meaning and accept that they are yours.
