Where Did School Come From?: A Children's Book on Traditional Ed.

Why make an illustrated (and rather abbreviated) history of education - specifically traditional American education? Well, for starters, because one didn’t exist. However, a more accurate answer is many people don’t realize why school is the way that it is. Educators, politicians, parents, administrators, and the like have been arguing about education for decades, but what are we arguing about? Why are we arguing? It is our hope that this brief illustrated timeline will acclimate many to the reality.

Of course, a great lot had to be left out to keep things concise, but what remains is empirical and historically accurate evidence of how our compulsory/ factory model of education came to be. Hopefully, by seeing this work, the current arguments in education may shift from masking learning to make it seem fun to why do we readily accept this current model if its genesis is fairly insidious in its nature? In other words, we hope this book simplifies a very dense understanding of history while providing a progressive view of why it’s important.
